Task Batching is the practice of grouping similar activities and completing them in the same work session.

This is where productivity systems quietly fail.
You can have an extremely productive-looking day and accomplish nothing that matters. You answered 47 emails. You organized the CRM. You scheduled two weeks of social posts. You cleaned up your files. You sat through four meetings. You were busy from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
And the $25,000 proposal that could close your biggest customer of the year is still sitting in drafts.

How to Actually Build a Task Block
The concept is easy. The execution is where people fall off. Four rules cover most of it.
- Sixty to ninety minutes. Long enough to reach real focus, short enough to survive a normal workday. Under 45 minutes you are still warming up when it ends.
- Write the outcome on the calendar, not the category. "Send Johnson proposal" — not "proposal work," and definitely not "sales." If the calendar entry cannot be finished, it is not a task block.
- Capture interruptions, do not service them. Keep a notepad open. Anything that surfaces mid-block gets written down and dealt with later. This single habit is the difference between a block and a nice intention.
- Two or three blocks a day, not eight. A calendar packed wall to wall with blocks is just time blocking with extra steps. The rest of the day belongs to batches, meetings, and the unplanned work that always arrives.
